14 Troubleshooting

Problem
The camera will not turn
on.
The display shows there
is no memory card or
there are no files on the
SD memory card.
The camera recorded a
motion detection video
even though it failed to
detect any moving objects
in standby mode.
The camera starts record-
ing a video even though
there is no moving object
in front of the lens.
The camera will not
record video of an object
moving in front of the
lens while the camera is
connected to the app.
Cause
The rechargeable lithium-ion
battery is empty; there are
no backup batteries in the
camera.
The microSD card is incor-
rectly inserted in the card slot.
The microSD card is
defective.
The microSD card is format-
ted incorrectly.
Test the PIR sensor function by selecting the "Motion Test" menu item. Move
your hand in front of the camera lens to see whether the PIR status LED (8) starts
flashing and whether the display shows the number of shots. If yes, this means that
the PIR sensor functions correctly.
See Chapter 11.3.10 "Motion Test".
The protective film has not
been removed.
The PIR sensor cannot be
triggered if the camera is too
close to the ground or it is not
slightly tilted downwards.
The effective monitoring distance must not exceed 22-25 metres. The camera may
not recognise moving objects that are too small. For example, the PIR sensor may
not detect a rabbit or mouse 20 metres away from the camera.
The detection function depends on the ambient temperature. The ideal ambient
temperature for motion detection is 20 °C. When the ambient temperature is too
high, the detection distance is reduced, which means distant moving objects may
not be recognised.
Ensure there are no wobbling objects, such as leaves, in the detection area to avoid
false triggering.
Do not point the camera at the sun. Sunlight or tree leaves, when moved by a gusty
wind, may cause a false trigger on the PIR sensor.
When the camera is connect-
ed to the app, the camera
is in app mode. In the app
mode, the camera cannot
create automatic recordings.
Remedy
Charge the battery via the USB-C
low-voltage input.
Remove the microSD card and insert it into the
card slot correctly.
See Chapter 10.2 "Inserting the memory card".
Replace the microSD card with a new one or test it
in a memory card reader.
Format the microSD card via the camera menu.
See Chapter 11.3.13 "Memory Card Format".
Remove the protective film from the PIR sensor.
Mount the camera 0.5 to 2 metres above the
ground, depending on the target to be captured or
recorded. Orient the camera so that it faces slightly
downwards.
See Chapter 12.1 "Mounting and orienting the
camera".
Disconnect the camera from the app and switch
it to Live mode (move the slide switch to the "ON"
position).
