10 Preparing the camera for use
Before using your camera for the first time, remove the protective films from the camera lens, PIR sensor and two
infrared LEDs on the front.
Then, release the two latches (7) on the camera housing and fold open the cover.
10.1 Inserting and changing the backup batteries
The device can be used without backup batteries.
Sometimes, the built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery cannot be fully charged by the integrated solar cell,
depending on the season, weather and environment (e.g. winter, no sunshine, wooded area).
Therefore, we recommend using backup batteries, especially if you want to use the camera for an extended
period.
Please note!
The device supports 1.5 V AA batteries only! Do not use 1.2 V batteries!
Do not use rechargeable batteries!
Avoid mixing old and new batteries!
Insert four AA batteries into the battery compartment. Check that the polarity of the batteries is correct (plus/+ and
minus/-). The polarity is indicated inside the battery compartment.
If the "AA" battery symbol on the display is empty (no white bars) or shows a red "X", you must replace the backup
batteries.
To change the batteries, remove the old batteries and insert new ones. The procedure is the same as for inserting
the batteries.
10.2 Inserting the memory card
The camera supports microSD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards with a maximum capacity of 128 GB.
Insert the memory card into the card slot (22) until it clicks into place. The card is inserted correctly when the
contacts are facing away from the display.
To remove the memory card, push it in gently until it disengages from the card slot. You can now pull the card out.
