FIELD OF APPLICATION
The STREAM Controllable backflow preventer BA for pipe installation are used as fittings to protect
drinking water from non-drinking water in accordance with DIN EN 1717 up to and including Fluid
Category 4.

The symbols and safety instructions used in the operating instructions are to be understood as follows:

REQUIREMENTS
To ensure trouble-free operation, the following requirements must be met:
/ The ambient temperature must not exceed 40 °C (to prevent material damage, breakage, etc.)
/ The room for the installation must be dry and frost-free, the ambient temperature must not fall
below 5 °C
/ The STREAM Controllable backflow preventer BA must not be exposed to strong impacts
/ The packaging serves as transport protection. If the packaging is severely damaged, the fitting
should not be installed
/ Installation and maintenance may only be carried out by an authorised specialist company
/ Maintenance instructions must be observed
/ In order to avoid damage or to recognise it in good time, the drinking water installations and the
appliances and fittings installed and connected to them must be inspected and maintained in good
time in accordance with DIN EN 806-5.
Outside the scope of the European standards, national installation and maintenance regulations
must be observed.

MATERIALS USED
The materials used are resistant to the physical, chemical and corrosive stresses to be expected in
drinking water and fulfil the requirements of DIN EN 12729 („Safety devices for the protection of
drinking water against pollution by backflow — Controllable backflow preventer with controllable
pressure-reduced zone — Family B — Type A").
All materials are hygienically and physiologically safe. Plastics in contact with drinking water meet the
„Assessment basis for plastics and other organic materials in contact with drinking water", in short:
UBA KTW-BWGL, of the Federal Environment Agency.
Metallic materials meet the requirements of DIN 50930-6 („Influencing the quality of drinking water")
and the assessment basis for metallic materials, in short:
UBA BWGL-Metalle, of the Federal Environment Agency.
