MAINTENANCE
Regular maintenance is mandatory for the STREAM Controllable backflow preventer BA for pipe
installation so maintenance contracts between the operator and installer are advisable.
Timely maintenance intervals in accordance with DIN EN 806-5 (see chapter 3 Requirements):
After 6 months, then periodically — depending on operating conditions — at least every 12 months
The ball valve nozzles contained in each pressure zone (Fig. 5.1 / Fig. 5.2; [a], [b] and [c]) are used to
test the function of the fittings with a corresponding pressure gauge.
8.1 Check the separating function
of the relief valve and the BP2
(Fig. 8.1)
/ Closing the barriers [d] and [e]
/ Remove the pressure gauge plugs from
the test valves for the inlet pressure
zone [a] and medium pressure zone [b]
(insert hexagon socket spanner 5)
/ Open test valves [a] and [b] to
depressurise the fitting
/ Measuring device [f] on both test valves
mount
/ Open barriers [d] und [e]
/ Vent the fitting via the two needle valves
on the measuring device [f], tap water
/ Closing the needle valves and shut-off
valves [d] and [e]
/ Slowly release the pressure via the
needle valve of the pre-pressurisation
zone [c] and observe the drain funnel:
When the first drop emerges from the drain funnel [g]: Differential pressure > 0.14 bar
/ If this is not the case, there is contamination / a technical defect
Checking the BP2 (Backflow preventer2):
/ Open the needle valve of the pre-pressurisation zone [c] completely
/ Relieve the medium pressure chamber until it is completely empty
/ Open the shut-off valve [f] on the outlet side. If water drips from the drain funnel [g],
the BP2 is dirty / has a technical defect
/ Close both test valves [a] and [b], remove measuring device [f],
Fit the pressure gauge plugs on the test valves [a] and [b],
Open the shut-off on the input side [d] and output side [e]
