The water system needs to reach the extraction tempera-
ture, before an extraction can be started. Wait until the
espresso icons illuminate, before attempting to start an
extraction.
The extraction will be terminated at once, when another
function is activated.
Ensure to remove the red cap, before using the machine.
Fill a sufficient amount of water into the water tank.
Always ensure that the filling level in the
water tank is between the "MIN" and
"MAX" marking, before starting any function
of the machine.
Only use coffee powder that is suited for espresso
machines. Pre-ground coffee powder is labelled accor-
dingly.
Do not apply too much force, when tamping the coffee
powder (12-13 kg).
Always descale the water system in time (see: 'Descaling
the Water System'). If the water hardness of your tap
water is extremely high, use non-carbonated, low-mineral
table water.
Thoroughly clean the filter basket. If required, use the
needle tool for opening the pores of the filter basket
(see: 'Care and Cleaning').
Program the desired extraction volume (see: 'Entering
Your Own Settings').

The handle of the portafilter must be at right angle to the
front of the machine (see: 'Making Espresso').
Carefully remove any surplus coffee powder from the rim
of the filter basket, before installing the portafilter at the
group head.
Use the correct amount of coffee powder for the selected
filter basket. If required, select another filter basket (see:
'Properties of Your Espresso Machine / Selecting the
Appropriate Filter Basket').
Clean the group head (see: 'Care and Cleaning'). For
cleaning the group head, only use a soft cloth or SOFT
nylon brush. If the problem persists, get in contact with
an authorized service centre for examination and repair.
Do not poke in the group head with any hard
or sharp-edged objects.
Do not apply too much force for tamping (12-13 kg).
Leave the steam wand cool down completely. Then clean
the steam wand (see: 'Care and Cleaning').
Always ensure that the water tank is filled at least up to
the "MIN" marking, before starting a function.
Hot water function: max. 180-220 ml can be taken
until automatic shut-off.
Steam function: max. 5 minutes in contiuous opera-
tion. Turn the control dial to the central standby position
and wait, until all function icons illuminate again.
