English
The upper line displays the coordinates of the actual point
to be worked on. It also specifies if a reference point
(Ref.) or calculated (Calc) point is displayed. The menu
offers the following operations:
"Add" adds a point or overwrites an existing one
"Prev" shows the prior reference point
"Next" displays the next reference point
"Del"
cancels the actual reference point
The reference point X = 0, Y = 0 can be edited, but
not canceled. Every signal keeps this reference
point on the abscissa (x = 0).
The addition of a point is made by defining data for X and
Y. To change from X to Y, the menu key X←→Y is pressed.
Any specified data must be acknowledged by "ok".
←→
As soon as this acknowledgment is given, the next data
can be entered. The menu is left by pressing "Prev".
"Calc" is used after the desired values are specified.
The editor will calculate the points between the entered
reference points. After this step the new signal can be
generated. The "VISU" function allows to visualize the
entered data step by step.
The data of the stored signal appear in increasing order.
"Next" and "Prev" allow to display the reference points.
The calculated data between the reference points can
be reached via the rotary dial. This allows easy access to
all abscissa data. The step size is determined by the
position of the cursor.

Memory Card

The HM8131-2 offers the use of a memory card by the
PCMCIA interface. S-RAM cards of 64/128/256/512kB
and 1MB memory can be used. The data is stored the
same as in a floppy disk in the DOS format and can be
38
stored or read by use of a personal computer with
PCMCIA option. The data files are structured via an
internal HAMEG Structure (HIDAFF) which is indepen-
dent of any formatting in DOS. This allows an exchange
of cards amongst HAMEG instruments which use
PCMCIA cards.
The different operations modes for the PCMCIA card are
available via the menu "OPTIONS MENU 1" and the sub-
menu "Mcard".
The available options are:
Load
Loading of the arb signal from the memory card
to the memory of the HM8131-2
Store
Storage of the arb signal on the memory card
Dir
Read contents of memory card
→ → → → →
Other functions
Format Formatting of a memory card
Del
Deletion of an arb signal from the memory card
The command Dir will give the name plus data expansion
(ARB 16 K 001). It will also give the data attribute (....A)
and the size (32887) of the stored data.
With the menu keys "Next" and "Prev" the different
files can be selected. The Load command transfers the
selected file to the memory of the HM8131-2. This will
automatically select the appropriate memory size, the
non-volatile memory (4k) or the volatile (16k) memory.

Recording of an ARB Signal

To store an ARB-Signal, first the data size must be
specified. This is done by the option SPC in the ARB
menu (4k or 16k). From this the name of the signal is
derived ARB 4k or ARB 16k. The extension serves to
differentiate between individual signals stored on the
PCMCIA card (.001, .002, etc).
Caution
If a signal with the same name is stored or the
memory card, the storage of a new signal will
automatically cancel the previous signal that was
stored on the card.
