b) Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle with the
blades stationary and take care not to operate
the switch. Carrying the hedge trimmer correctly
reduces the risk of accidental operation and injuries
from the blade.
c) Always put the cover over the blade when trans-
porting or storing the hedge trimmer. Handling
the hedge trimmer correctly reduces the risk of inju-
ry from the blade.
d) Make sure all switches are off and the mains
plug is disconnected before removing trapped
clippings or servicing the machine. Unexpect-
ed operation of the hedge trimmer when removing
trapped material can cause serious injury.
e) Hold the hedge trimmer only by the insulated
gripping surfaces, as the cutting blade could hit
hidden power lines or its own mains cable. Con-
tact between the blade and a live power line can al-
so electrify metal device parts and lead to an elec-
tric shock.
f) Keep any mains cables away from the cutting
area. Wires may be hidden in hedges and bushes
and could be accidentally cut by the blade.
g) Do not use the hedge trimmer in bad weather,
especially if there is a risk of thunderstorms.
This reduces the risk of being struck by lightning.
Using and handling the rechargeable tool
• Only charge the batteries in battery chargers rec-
ommended by the manufacturer. A battery charger
that is suitable for a particular type of battery poses
a fire hazard when used with other batteries.
• Only use the batteries in power tools that are de-
signed for them. The use of other batteries can lead
to injuries and a risk of fire.
• Keep the unused battery away from paper clips,
coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal ob-
jects that could cause a short-circuit between the
contacts. A short-circuit between the contacts of the
battery could result in burns or fires.
• Liquid may leak from the battery if used incorrectly.
Avoid contact with it. In case of accidental contact,
rinse with water. If the liquid gets into your eyes,
seek additional medical attention. Leaking battery
fluid may cause skin irritation or burns.
• Do not use a damaged or modified battery. Dam-
aged or modified batteries can behave unpredicta-
bly and cause fire, explosion or injury.
• Do not expose a battery to fire or excessive tem-
peratures. Fire or temperatures above 130°C may
cause an explosion.
• Follow all charging instructions and never charge
the battery or rechargeable tool outside the temper-
ature range specified in the operating manual. In-
correct charging or charging outside the approved
temperature range can destroy the battery and in-
crease the risk of fire.
Correct handling of the battery charger
• This device can be used by children from 8 years
of age as well as by persons with reduced physi-
cal, sensory or mental capabilities or with a lack of
experience or knowledge, if they are supervised or
if they have been trained in the safe use of the de-
vice and understand the resultant hazards. Children
may not play with the device. Cleaning and user
maintenance must not be carried out by children
unsupervised.
• Only use the battery charger supplied to charge the
battery. There is a risk of fire and explosion.
• Before each use, check the battery charger, cable
and connector and have them repaired by qualified
personnel using only original spare parts. Do not
use a defective battery charger or open it yourself.
This ensures that safety of the device is maintained.
• Ensure that your mains voltage matches with the
specifications on the type plate of the battery charg-
er. There is a risk of electric shock.
• Disconnect the battery charger from the mains be-
fore connecting it to or disconnecting it from the
electric tool.
• Keep the battery charger clean and away from
moisture and rain. Never use the battery charg-
er outdoors. Contamination and water ingress in-
crease the risk of electric shock.
• The battery charger may only be operated with the
original batteries. Charging other batteries can lead
to injuries and a risk of fire.
• Avoid mechanical damage to the battery charger.
This can lead to internal short circuits.
• The battery charger must not be operated on inflam-
mable surfaces (e.g. paper, textiles). There is a risk
of fire due to the heat generated during charging.
• If the connection cable is damaged then it must be
replaced by the manufacturer or their customer ser-
vices personnel or by a similarly qualified person,
in order to avoid hazards.
