3.7 Switching the Instrument Off

After the set volume of air has been sampled,
the measuring process ends automatically. The
value »000« will appear in the display and an
alarm will sound which can be switched off by
pressing the [RESET] key.
The current measurement process can be inter-
rupted if necessary by pressing the [ON/OFF]
key or using the remote control.
Eight minutes after the measurement is com-
plete or after the last key is pressed, the instru-
ment will switch off automatically and the
display will extinguish itself. If the display has
already switched off, it is advisable to check
that sampling was carried out successfully by
switching the instrument on again using the
[RESET] key. If the sampling procedure was
successful, the last used sampling volume will
be shown in the display. Error messages are
described in section 5.

Evaluation of the Results

The colonies are counted by direct visual inspection after incubation in the sealed plastic protective
wrapper. The microbial count is to be stated with reference to the sampling volume.
For calculation of the CFUs per volume the following conversion factors apply:

3.8 Removal of the Agar Strip

To remove the agar strip, first remove the pro-
tection cap, then the rotor and then with the
help of the tab, pull the agar strip from the
rotor and replace it into the protective wrapper
with the culture medium facing downwards.
Seal the protective wrapper using one of the
supplied slide seals or adhesive tape to prevent
the culture medium from drying out during
incubation.
Label the agar strip with
the most relevant sample
data to avoid problems of
identification.
