CASSETTE TAPE NOTES
@Taking up tape slack.
Load the tape after first taking up the slack as shown in the
figure below. The tape may jam if the cassette is loaded
with slack tape.
Using a cassette tape with slack in it, can cause a tape jam or
abnormal operation.

Do not touch the tape or pull it out
®@Do not load the tape with the holder still in position.
@Do not use C-120 tapes since the tape often jams.
Do not place tapes near a source of magnetism such as
on the top of a TV set or near a magnet.
elf the cassette tape label peels off, stick it back into place.
If it is not returned to its original position, the tape may not
be ejected properly.
eStore the tape in its case so that dust and dirt do not

@ Dolby NR system
(Noise Reduction circuit)
Dolby NR system is a system developed by the Dolby
Laboratories (U.S.A.) for reducing tape hiss. Today, this
system is widely adopted in music tape recording.
Generally, when a tape is played back, it gives the so-
called tape hiss noise. This noise is offensive to the ear
especially when tape speed is slow as in the case of a
cassette deck, but the tape hiss noise can be reduced
when playing back the recorded tape through the Dolby
NR system.
The tape hiss noise is less offensive when the play back
signal level is high thanks to the so-called masking effect,
but is very offensive to the ear where the signal level is
low. Also, the tape hiss noise is composed of relatively
high frequency components. The secret of the system is,
therefore, to raise the signal level of the high frequency
part when recording and reduce that amplified level
during playback.
@ Two reel type rotation detector
While a tape is being played back, it is possible that the
tape will reverse suddenly (program change).
This mechanism, however will auto-reverse when a tape
problem is detected by the rotation detector.
if reversing is repeated or the tape is ejected, it is possible
there is something wrong with the tape, and itis advisable
to change the tape for confirmation.
