MECHANISM
FAULT
a) tape jams —
causing uneven playback speed.
b) tape tangles — the
tape
wraps
itself
around
capstan
and the roller
mechanism.
To prevent such problems:
2. If the tape transport is irregular during playback or recording, then the
tape may
be jamming
due to folds caused during the winding process
(visible through centre window).
In most cases, such folds can be removed by rapid winding of the tape
in the forward or reverse direction.
PROTECTION
ERASURE
. The cassettes can be protected against acci-
dental erasure. There are two tabs, one for
each side of the cassette, and when they are
removed,
it will not be possible to depress
the REC
key. The tabs should be removed
in order
to
protect
the
recordings
from
being erased.
