Special Techniques
Setting the Recording Level
Setting
the
recroding
level
correctly
is
essential if you want to make top-quality
recordings.
If the level
is too
low, the
recording
will
be
unnecessarily
noisy.
If the level is set too high, the recording will
be distorted. Generally speaking, the record-
ing level should be set so that the loudest
signals to be recorded
make the meters
indicate
about 0dB.
If the meters
peak
over the 0dB point, the record level con-
trols should be turned down a little. How-
ever, some
program
material
or different
tape formulations
(i.e., metal tape) may
warrant higher recording levels.
With a little time and practice you will be
able to select that critical recording level
that gives you the best hi-fi recordings. The
type and condition of the tape, as well as
the type of music source you are recording
will affect the optimum
settings of the
recording level.
Dubbing
;
Deck-to-deck copying of tapes (dubbing)
can
be done
without
using an external
amplifier. Operation is the same as standard
record and playback procedures described
in "Playback and Recording".
When
this deck is used as the 'master'
recorder with a second deck used as the
"slave'' recorder, connect the output of the
V-300X to the input of the slave deck. To
use the V-900X
and the second deck in
opposite roles, simply reverse the input and
output connections.
Punch-in Recording
During playback, you can go from repro-
duce to record
by holding in the REC
button
and
simultaneously
pressing
the
PLAY ( ») button. A new recording will
start from
that location.
This operation
allows you to record over or correct a re-
corded section of the tape without pressing
the STOP ( ™ ) button first and then enter-
ing the record mode.
Erasing
A previously
recorded
tape will be auto-
matically
erased when
you
make
a new
recording on it. Alternatively, it can be
erased by "recording" on it with the RE-
CORD controls turned to "0".

platine. Pour inverser les réles, effectuez
simplement les branchements inverses entre
entrées et sorties.
Surenregistrement (punch-in)
Au cours de la lecture, vous pouvez passer
en mode d'enregistrement en appuyant a la
fois sur les touches d'enregistrement (REC)
et de lecture
(>). Un nouvel erregistre-
ment commence a cet endroit. Ceprocessus
permet d'enregistrer par dessus uneséquence
déja enregistrée ou de fa corriger sans avoir
4 passer d'abord par Ja touche d'art ( @).
Effacement
Une bande
préalablement
enregitrée sera
automatiquement effacée si vous en registrez
"nar dessus". De plus vous pouvez effacer
l'enregistrement en "'enregistrant"
avec les
commandes RECORD réglées a "0".
