Cable maintenance
NOTE:
See "MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICA-
TION INTERVAL CHARTS". Cable main-
tenance is primarily concerned with prevent-
ing deterioration and providing proper lubri-
cation to allow the cable to move freely with-
in its housing. Cable removal is straight for-
ward and uncomplicated. Removal is not dis-
cussed within this section.
WARNING:
Cable routing is very important. For details of
cable routing, see the "CABLE ROUTING"
at the end of this manual. Improperly routed
or adjusted cables may make the motorcycle
unsafe for operation.
1. Remove the cable.
2. Check for free movement of the cable
within its housing. If movement is
obstructed, check for frayed strands or
kinking of the cable. If damage is
evident, replace the cable.
3. To lubricate the cable, hold it in a
vertical position. Apply lubricant to the
uppermost end of the cable. Leave it in
the vertical position until the lubricant
appears at the bottom. Allow any excess
to drain, and reinstall the cable.

L'entretien des cables consiste en premier
lieu
a
eviter la deterioration et
a
fournir un
graissage correct pour permettre chaque
cable de coulisser librement dans sa gaine.
La depose de cable est directe et facile; elle
n'est done pas decrite dans cette section.
AVERTISSEMENT:
Le cheminement des cables est tres important.
Pour plus de details concernant ce chemine-
ment, voir le paragraphe de "CHEMINEMENT
DES CABLES"

cables mal mis en place ou mal
regles
peuvent
rendre la motocycIette dangereuse

1. Enlever le cable.
2. Conti.Oler si le cable coulisse librement
dans sa gaine. Si le mouvement est en-
trave, controller si le cable ne presente
pas de brins erailles ou
n'est pas vrille.
Si le dommage est evident, changer le
cable.
3. Pour lubrifier le cable, le tenir vertical.
Appliquer le lubrifiant
l'extremite
superieure du cable. Le tenir vertical
jusquad ce que le lubrifiant apparaisse
l'extremite inferieure. Laisser s'ecouler
tout exces de lubrifiant puis remonter
le cable.

Wartung der Seile
ANMERKUNG:
Zusatzliche Angaben sind der Wartungs-und
Schmiertabelle zu entnehmen. Die Wartung
der Seile hat in erster Linie den Zweek, die
Alterung zu verhindern. Ferner solle durch
ausreichende Schmierung eine freie Bewegung
der Seile in ihren Umhallungen sichergestellt
werden. Der Ausbau der Seile ist einfach und
bereitet keine Schwierigkeiten. Der Ausbau
wird darum in diesem Abschnitt nicht behan-
delt.
WARNUNG:
Die Seilfiihrung ist von grater Wichtigkeit.
Einzelheiten iiber die Seilfiihrung sind der
Seil und Kabelfiihrungsiibersicht gegen Ende
dieses Handbuches zu entnehmen. Falsch ver-
legte Seilziige bzw. falsche Einstellung vermin-
dern die Fahrsicherheit des Motorrades.
1. Seil entfernen.
2. Freie Bewegung des SeiIs in der Umhul-
lung prEifen. Falls die Bewegung behin-
dert ist, die Seillitzen auf Ausfransung
und Knicke priifen. Wird ein Schaden
gefunden, die entsprechende Seilzugein-
heit erneuem.
3. Um ein Seil zu schmieren, dieses senk-
recht halten. Oben einige Tropfen 01 auf
das obere Seilende auftragen. Seil welter-
hin senkrecht halten, bis das 01 am
unteren Ende erscheint. Oberschiissiges
01 abfliegen lessen und das Sell wieder
anbringen.
