Any unintended use, as well as any unauthorised modifi-
cation of the furniture is considered unauthorised misuse
outside the manufacturer's legal liability limits.
Misuse
Possible danger sources are:
▪ Incorrectly performed maintenance and repair work
Use other than for the intended purpose
▪
▪ Operation with improperly attached or non-functioning
safety devices
▪ Failure to observe the information in the operating in-
structions
▪ Failure to observe the information on furniture labels
▪ Unauthorised changes in furniture
Residual risks
Furniture may have inherent unavoidable residual risks
for persons and property. Danger to life/risk of injury may
result from:
▪ Misuse
▪ Improper handling
Missing safety devices (e.g. the manufacturer's toppling
▪
prevention devices)
Hazards due to magnetic fields
▪ There is a danger to life for people wearing pacemakers
at and in the vicinity of furniture containing magnets.
– People wearing pacemakers should maintain a dis-
tance of 30 cm away from furniture with the following
label.
Hazards due to human error
▪ Misuse of the furniture could cause a fall.
– Never use worktops or cabinets as a ladder or a seat.
– Do not use drawers and grips for climbing, hanging or
sitting.
▪ Improper handling of furniture with glass inserts can
result in cuts caused by broken glass.
– Do not support yourself on open glass doors.
– Close glass doors carefully.
– Avoid hard impacts and always place objects down
gently on glass surfaces.
– Hard objects can cause surface damage. Do not rub
across the glass surface with metallic, ceramic or
sharp objects, such as glass ceramic surface scrapers.
If damage occurs, glass must be replaced by a spe-

cialist.
▪ Luminaires and LEDs can cause eye damage.
– Do not look directly into light sources.
