17. Troubleshooting

The following table shows fault symptoms and describes remedial measures in the event of your product failing to
work properly. If you cannot localise and rectify the problem with this, please contact your service workshop.
Fault
The cut quality is poor.
Excessive vibration when
turning thin workpieces.
Excessive vibration when
turning large workpieces
or bowls.
Lathe does not turn.
Lathe does not turn off.

Possible cause
Cutting tool is brunt.
Too strongly cut
The cutting tool is positioned below the
workpiece centreline.
Rotation speed too slow, increase
rotation speed
The cutting tool is below the workpiece
centreline.
Too strongly cut
Headstock and/or tailstock incor-
rectly positioned at the ends of the
workpiece.
The workpiece is not balanced.
Cable not connected to the mains
socket.
The safety switch of the opened door
located inside the motor access hatch,
is broken or engaged.
Damaged or defective power switch
and/or internal wiring.

Remedy
Sharpen or replace cutting tool.
Reduce the working pressure.
Do not apply the cutting tool any lower
than 3 mm above the centre of the
workpiece.
Adjust speed
Raise the cutting tool to the centreline
of the workpiece.
Reduce the working pressure.
Check that the workpiece tips on the
headstock and/or tailstock are correct.
Cut the end of the part until the work-
piece is balanced.
Connect it to the mains socket.
Replace the safety switch of the open
door.
Pull the lathe's plug out of the socket
immediately. Do not operate the lathe
until it has been repaired by a qualified
service technician.
