- Repeat <large quantity> metered quantity measurement in line with the instructions given by
the diagnostic tester.
- Weigh the filled graduated beaker on the scales and subtract the previously determined tare
weight of the beaker.
- Compare the calculated AdBlue quantity value to the set value displayed in the diagnostic
tester and perform assessment.
- Perform <medium quantity> (graduated beaker 0.25 l) and <small quantity> (graduated
beaker 0.1 l) metered quantity measurement in line with the instructions given by the
diagnostic tester. Use the scales to determine the AdBlue quantities (with allowance for the
tare weight of the beakers), compare to the set value displayed in the diagnostic tester and
perform assessment.
Repeat the measurements once or twice if necessary. If the metered quantity is too low,
perform delivery measurement with the test metering module. If the test result is OK, this is an
indication of a faulty metering module.
If the metered quantities determined differ from the set values, it is essential to perform
the pump delivery test (max) in conjunction with a speed and pressure test, as
these parameters have a considerable influence on the metered quantity (Section
10.2).
Note:
On vehicles with a cooling circuit control valve (CCV), the metered quantity measurement can
also be used to assess leakage as the full system pressure 500kPa (5 bar) is applied.
Whether or not a cooling circuit control valve is fitted can be seen from the Identification in the
diagnostic tester (Section 1.5.2).
Spray pattern assessment
For correct assessment of the metering
module, it is important to consider not
only the metered quantity but also the
spray pattern.
Spray image OK: the spray is distributed
outwards in a straight line (green arrows).
Spray pattern not OK: the spray is partially
distributed back into itself (red arrows). In this
case, the metering module must be replaced.
