Compliance with Building Codes

The most recent laws designed to reduce energy
consumption require compliance with a series of factors
that affect the performance and power consumption of
ventilation equipment.
In particular, the 2006 edition of the British regulations
" UK Building Regulation Approved Document F1 ", at
paragraph " System 4 Continuous mechanical extract
with heat recovery (MVHR) " (pag.33) , requires that a
minimum value of the maximum flow be guaranteed for
every "damp" room (13 l/s for kitchens, 8 l/s for service
rooms and bathrooms, 6 l/s for toilets)
The minimum guaranteed value of the minimum flow is
instead calculated based on the number of bedrooms in
the home, adding the flow (expressed in l/s) shown in the
table " 1.1b " (pag.33) . The overall flow that results from
such a calculation must not be below 0.3 l/s per m
total floor surface (that is taking into account all floors).
To this value, which is based on the assumption that
there are 2 occupants for the first bedroom and 1 for
each of the remaining bedrooms, a further 4 l/s will have
to be added for each additional occupant of a bedroom,
as well as an addition compensation factor for air
leakage and infiltrations.

Description and operation

The Vortice PROMETEO PLUS HR 400 MP (henceforth
"the appliance") is an extremely high efficiency heat
recovery centralised ventilation system that can be
installed horizontally using the supports provided,
vertically on the floor or wall mounted using the special
metal brackets that come with the appliance.
Under normal operating conditions, stale air is extracted
from "service" rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms,
laundries and larders; at the same time, fresh air is
introduced to the bedrooms, studies and living rooms.
The air flows required are detailed in current national
regulations; In the UK, the "Building Regulations
Document F1 " (pag.33) applies.
During normal operation, the total volume of the air
extracted and that fed back in is more or less the same.
The incoming and outgoing air flows are completely
separated and suitably filtered. During the winter, heat
from the expelled air is transferred to the incoming air
with
an

Condensation created in the process is collected inside
the appliance and must then be ducted to the outside.
The
appliance
provides
ventilation/extraction of air from the home removing stale
air from all "damp" rooms and creating a constant flow of
air to the living areas. Air inside the appliance goes
through to the high efficiency heat exchanger where heat
from the extracted air is transferred to fresh, incoming air
before being fed into living areas.

Temperature range
The outdoor temperature interval (the temperature of the
air from outside fed into the home, before the exchanger
and therefore not yet heated) required for the appliance
to work properly is between -30°C and +50°C
(temperatures < -30°C are signalled by the outdoor
thermometer icon flashing on the remote control;
temperatures > +50°C result in an error indication and
cause the appliance to stop running).
The indoor temperature interval (the temperature of the
air extracted from the home, before the exchanger and
therefore not yet cooled) required for the appliance to
work properly is between +10°C and +50°C (for indoor
temperatures above this value, the appliance stops and
issues an error code).
