Operating instructions
FIT-100 RCD tester
Item no. 2464203
1 Intended use
The FIT-100 tester is intended for testing the functionality of residual current devices (RCD)
in single-phase power networks (TT/TN). The tester should be connected directly to a stand-
ard earthed socket outlet. The device tests the outer conductor (L, phase) and the protective
conductor (PE). The display has different indicators for the operating status, such as mains
voltage, fault voltage (contact voltage) and phase position. When an error occurs, the display
lights up red and the warning beep is emitted. The RCD test can be carried out with a preset
fault current, positive or negative half sine wave, normal tripping or time delay (selectively with
a tripping test time of up to 30 s). The tripping time and the tripping current are displayed during
the ramp test. The tester is powered by four Mignon batteries.
The device may only be used in installations up to the measurement category CAT III (building
installations).
Do not operate the device in potentially explosive areas (Ex), damp rooms or adverse condi-
tions. Unfavourable ambient conditions include: Moisture or high humidity, dust and flammable
gases, vapours or solvents, thunderstorms and strong electromagnetic fields.
Any use other than that described above is not permitted and may damage the product. Fur-
thermore, there are dangers such as short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc.
The product must not be modified or reassembled!
Always observe the safety information in these instructions!

5 Safety information
These instructions contain important information on how to use the device
correctly. Please read them carefully before using the device for the first time.
Damage caused due to failure to observe these instructions will void the war-
ranty. We shall not be liable for any consequential damage!
We shall not be liable for damage to property or personal injury caused by
incorrect handling or failure to observe the safety information! Such cases
will void the warranty/guarantee.
For safety and licensing reasons, the unauthorised conversion and/or modification of elec-

trical devices is not allowed.
To ensure safe operation, the user must follow the safety instructions and warning notices

that are included in these operating instructions.
Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the device.

The measurement device and its accessories are not toys and must be kept out of the

reach of children.
For installations in industrial facilities, follow the accident prevention regulations for electri-

cal systems and equipment issued by the national safety organisation or the corresponding
national authority.
In schools, educational facilities, and hobby and DIY workshops, meters must be used

under the responsible supervision of qualified personnel. The same applies when the meter
is used by people with reduced physical and mental capabilities.
Check your device for damage before each test. Never take measurements if the protective

insulation is damaged (torn, missing, etc.).
Allow the device to reach ambient temperature before powering it on. The condensation

that forms can damage the device. Do not turn the device on until it has reached ambient
temperature.

If you suspect that safe operation is no longer possible, stop using the device immediately

and prevent unauthorised use.
Safe operation can no longer be assumed if:

– There are signs of damage
– The device does not function properly
– The device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time
– The device was subjected to rough handling during transport.
Make sure that you always have these instructions at hand to ensure safe operation. Keep

these operating instructions in a safe place and give them to any subsequent owners.
Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly, as it may become a dangerous

plaything for children.
6 Controls
8
1 Test plug for earthed socket outlets
2 Display illumination (blue = normal opera-
tion, red = malfunction)
3 "N/S" button for a normal test or
selective test (time-delayed)
4 "RANGE" button for pre-setting
the tripping current
7 Inserting/replacing the batteries
Before using the device, you must first insert four new AA (Mignon) batteries.
Before opening the battery compartment, turn the device off and disconnect it from all circuits.
Remove the screw on the back of the battery compartment (8) and slide the battery compart-
ment cover downwards from the device to remove it. Insert four new batteries into the battery
compartment, observing the correct polarity. Note the polarity information inside the battery
compartment and close it carefully in reverse order.
Always change the batteries when an empty battery symbol is displayed. The two bars in the
battery symbol indicate the battery status (2 bars indicate that the batteries are fully charged;
no bars indicate an empty battery that needs to be changed).
8 Operation

8.1 Switching on and off

The tester turns on automatically when plugged into a live socket outlet. Briefly press the "ON"
button (6) to turn the device on before the test. Unplug the device from a socket outlet and
briefly press the "OFF" button (7) to turn it off.
8.2 Setting modes:
You can preset the desired test parameters using four buttons.
"mA/mS" button: Toggles the display between the tripping current in mA (milliampere) and the
trigger time in mS (milliseconds).
"180° 0°" button: Selects the test start at zero crossing of the half sine wave. 0° is a preset
value for the positive half wave. 180° is used for the negative half wave.
"N/S" button: Toggles between normal tripping (N) or delayed (selective) tripping (S). The
tripping type depends on the circuit breaker used. Delayed tripping is not possible at 10 - 30 mA
depending on the RCD type. With selective tripping, a 30-second countdown timer starts during
the test.
"RANGE" button: Selects the maximum tripping current. This value can be adjusted to the
respective circuit breaker under test.
