Step 1: Define the damage
Step 2: Define the repair technique
Step 3: Finish repair by removing excess, carrying out sanding and polishing process

The success of the repair depends to a large extent on the devices, materials and tools used.
Check that all repair components are ready for use before starting work.

1.1. Define the damage

Assess the damage using the 5 following criteria:
· Stone or material
Ask the question: Which stone or material is being repaired?
· Surface
Ask the question: What is the surface finish?
Polished - matt - flat - structured
· Damage type
Ask the question: What type of damage is there?
Scratches - edge splintering - impact damage and craters - damage to corners and spiderweb cracks - incorrectly placed drill holes -
assembly and machining defects
· Size of the damage
Ask the question: Is the damage minor or major?
· Define the repair technique
