Slowly move the device in the working direction. Check the result. If the scarifier
result is not satisfactory, lift the cutter shaft, switch off the engine and engage the
latching element (2) in the next position.
Carry out another scarifying test
If the engine becomes blocked or there are stone impact noises, switch the device
off immediately. Set a lower working depth.
After a few operating hours, the cutter shaft may need to be re-adjusted because of
wear. The more intensively you use it, the more wear on the blades. Hard or very dry
soils accelerate the wear.
In this case, proceed in the same manner for the scarifying depth adjustment as
described above

14 GRASS COLLECTOR

Operation with grass collecting bag (accessory)

The scarifier can also be operated with a grass collecting bag (for order no., see original
spare parts and accessories).
WARNING
When operating the equipment with a grass collecting bag, the bag must be
completely assembled and in technically perfect condition.

Attaching the grass collector to the scarifier (figure R1 + S1 )

Insert the grass collector frame into the collector sheet with the bar to the front.
Align the top seam of the collector sheet with the bar.
Press the retaining profile onto the front frame of the grass collector frame R1 .
Open the ejection flap of the scarifier upwards.
Pick up the grass collecting bag by the carrying strap and hang it in the scarifier
housing with its two side hooks upwards S1 .
Attach ejection flap to collecting bag.
When using the machine, ensure that the collecting bag is emptied in good time.
The grass collecting bag will only collect grass properly if air can pass through it freely.
If the cutter is set too low the grass collection is impaired.
IMPORTANT
Do not clean the grass collecting bag with hot water!

Emptying the grass collecting bag (figure F + L)

Switch off the engine F and wait until the cutting tool comes to a stop.
Lift the ejection flap.
Remove the full grass collecting bag from the scarifier by the carrying strap –
the ejection flap closes automatically.
Shake out of the grass collecting bag thoroughly, holding it by the moulded handle
on the bottom L .

Operation without grass collecting bag

WARNING
When scarifying without grass collecting bag the ejection flap on the scarifier
housing must always be closed (flap down).

15 SCARIFIER OPERATION

NOTE
To protect the cutter shaft, avoid tight curves and raise the cutter shaft
before turning.
NOTE
If the battery charge is too low, then the engine automatically switches off.
You should therefore charge the battery in good time.

Using the machine on slopes

ATTENTION
Do not scarify excessively steep slopes! Scarifying slopes always come
with additional risks. Always work at right angles to the slope,
never straight up or down.
Always make sure you have a firm stance.
Manually guided scarifiers should never be used for slopes with a gradient in
excess of 26% (15° angle of slope). Stability may be lost!

Checking operating safety

The scarifier is fitted with an engine stop device.
Before every scarifying job, make sure that the engine stop safety control bar is
working perfectly. When the safety grip is released, the engine must switch off
and the cutting tool must come to a standstill (Caution! The cutting tool runs for
a while!). If this is not the case, please consult your nearest authorised
workshop.
After release, the bar must always return to the position shown in the
"Description of components" diagram.
If this is not the case, it must be checked immediately by an authorised
workshop.
Safety information!
Machine safety and protective devices must not be manipulated or disabled.

Make sure that all protective devices have been attached properly and are not

damaged.
To avoid danger, check the condition and tight fit of the cutter shaft before
every scarifying job (refer to the chapter "Cutter shaft care" for more details).
Always have work on the cutter shaft done by a specialist workshop. If the
cutter shaft is assembled incorrectly, parts can become loose, which can lead
to serious injuries.
Also check device screws and nuts for a firm fit every 10 operating hours and tighten,
if necessary.
If the cutter shaft becomes blocked e.g. by colliding with an obstacle or through foreign
objects, have an authorised workshop check whether any parts of the scarifier are
damaged or deformed. Always have any necessary repairs done by an authorised
workshop too.
If the machine starts to vibrate unusually heavily or to make unusual noises,
please have it checked immediately by an authorised workshop.

Time restrictions

The time at which scarifiers may be used varies from region to region.
Please ask the relevant authorities before using your scarifier.

Tips on caring for your lawn (figure M )

WARNING
Remove all foreign bodies (stones, wood, branches, etc.) from the lawn before
any scarifying; however, you should still keep an eye out for objects lying around
while scarifying.
When using the device, always guide it in straight lines at medium walking speed.
Due to the forward direction of rotation of the cutter shaft, only a slight pushing force is
required. Depending on the properties of the surface, it may be necessary to hold the
scarifier back against the working direction. Avoid moving in tight curves.
On very mossy and weedy lawns, it is advisable to apply the scarifier a second
time, at right-angles to the first working direction. When using the machine without
a grass collector, remove the loose grass from the lawn before the second run.
Loose grass lying on the lawn will have an adverse effect on the result, put an
additional strain on the device and make the work unnecessarily difficult for the
user (stronger pushing forces).
Loose materials can best be removed by vacuuming with a TurboStar lawn mower or
manual raking.

16 SERVICE INTERVALS

IMPORTANT
Safety information!
Avoid damage! Under extreme or unusual conditions, shorter servicing intervals
For explanation of symbols,
than the ones specified below may be necessary. If you establish any problems,
see the table on page 2
please contact an authorised workshop.
Carry out routine servicing on the machine in line with the following servicing intervals.
Work must be carried out at the following servicing intervals in addition to the
maintenance work listed in these operating instructions.
Before initial use
8
Charge the battery.
Check all screw connections for a tight fit.
Check the cutter shaft and have an authorised workshop tighten it, if necessary.
Check whether the safety control bar is working properly.
Check that all protective devices have been attached properly and are not
damaged.
