Installation instructions
NOTE
Precise function of the product depends
significantly on the quality of adhesion.
NOTICE
Consequences of removal
The sensor head can only be applied once to
the surface and becomes unusable after
removed. It is not possible to test the sensor
head for adhesion or to reposition it.

Clearly determine the position of the
sensor head before applying.
►
Do not remove the sensor head for reap-
plication.

Bending diameter
►
When applying to round
surfaces observe the
minimum permissible
bending diameter of 40 mm!
With smaller diameters the
adhesion may be lost due to
rebound elasticity.
►
For diameters from 40 mm to 60 mm Balluff
recommends use of 3M Primer 94.
6.2
Transition measuring electrode to
– electronics box
The narrow area (1) between the measuring
electrode and electronics box is an electrically
and mechanically sensitive area. Moisture in this
area can affect the measurement value.

Avoid moisture in this area.

Avoid mechanical loading (pulling, bending,
kinks).
►
Maintain the maximum possible distance
from metallic surfaces. This distance affects
the measurement value.
6.3
Distance to imprinted surface
►
Maintain the minimum distance of 8 mm
between the imprinted surface and metal
surfaces.
6.4
Mounting examples
►
Fasten electronics box using appropriate
screws (Ø M3).
For improved functional security and noise
immunity Balluff recommends an electrical
connection from at least one metal sleeve on the
electronics box to machine ground and the minus
terminal on the power supply.
If the measurement value fluctuates (> ±5 digits)
this connection must be made.
