Installation and connection

5.1

Preparing for installation

Flush mountable sensors
Flush mountable sensors can be embedded in non-
ferromagnetic materials up to the active surface. This may
result in a reduction of the switching distance (S
installed in non-ferrous metal. The distance to opposite
metal surfaces must be ≥ 3 S
two sensors (for series mounting) ≥ 2 d. In order to be able
to install the sensor in ferromagnetic materials, the guide
value of 1 mm for dimension X applies (see Fig. 5-1).
The deviation in the effective operating distance associated
with the installation is maximum 10 %.

Non-flush mountable sensors
Non-flush mountable sensors can usually be identified by
their caps, as they do not have a metal housing in the area
around the active surface. The active surface must
protrude ≥ 2 S from the metal mounting medium. The

distance to opposite metal surfaces must be ≥ 3 S
the distance between two sensors ≥ 3 d.
