5. INSTALLATION

5.1 BATTERY CHARGER POSITION

- Place the battery charger in a stable position
during operation.
- Do not use the power cable or charge cable to lift
the battery charger.

5.2 CONNECTION TO THE MAINS

- The battery charger must only be connected to
a power supply system with neutral conductor
connected to earth.
Make sure the network voltage is equivalent to the
operation voltage.
- The power line must have a protection system,
such as fuses or circuit breakers, that can support
the maximum apparatus absorption.
- Use the relative cable when connecting to the
mains.
- Any power cable extensions must be of suitable
section, never lower than that of the supplied
cable.

6. BATTERY CHARGER PROTECTION

The battery charger protects itself from:
- Overcharge (too much current supplied to the
battery).
- Short circuit (loading clamps placed in contact
with each other).
- Polarity inversion on the battery clamps.
- The apparatus is protected against overcharges,
short circuits and polarity inversion by internal
electronic protection devices.
- When the clamps are free, the apparatus never
has output voltage, except in the SUPPLY mode.

7. USEFUL ADVICE

- Clean the positive and negative terminals from
possible oxide deposits to guarantee good clamp
contact.
- If the battery to be recharged using this apparatus
is permanently in a vehicle, consult the "ELECTRIC
SYSTEM" or "MAINTENANCE" sections of the
vehicle instruction and/or maintenance manual.
Before charging, disconnect the positive cable
that is part of the vehicle electric system.
