Trouble-shooting

Many problems have a simple cause and a correspond-
ingly simple solution. The following section describes a
few difficulties you may encounter, and the measures
you need to take to cure them.
If you find it impossible to solve a problem with the help
of these notes please ask your authorised  specialist
dealer for advice.
Problem:
Excessive or droning bass reproduction.
The speaker is set up too close to the wall,
Cause:
or in the corner of a room.
Keep the speaker at least 50 cm from the side
Remedy:
walls, or change the setting of the "Bass" switch
on the rear panel of the speaker cabinet.
The floor, room walls or furniture are resonating
Cause:
with the speakers.
Remedy:
Use spikes or dampers to suit the situation. If
you are not sure, please ask your local spe-
cialist dealer for advice.
Problem:
Change in high-frequency reproduction
directly after switching on
When the speakers are switched on auto-
Cause:
matically, it takes about 1 minute for the
valve output stages to heat up (TCI 1 A
only), and about 5 minutes for the elec-
tro-static foil to be charged up; only then is
the high-frequency range reproduced at full
level.
Problem:
The loudspeaker fails to switch on
No mains power
Cause:
Check the wiring, and switch the speaker on
Remedy:
using the primary mains switch.
The automatic power-on switches are set as
Cause:
shown below
CTRL AUTO
but no control cable is connected, or no control
signal is present at the 4-pin XLR socket.
Connect
Remedy:
pre-amplifier to the CTRL input on the
loudspeaker, or use a 4-pin XLR cable with
control wire.
The automatic power-on switches are set as
Cause:
shown below
CTRL AUTO
but no music signal is present.
Check the wiring for the music signal, and
Remedy:
the volume setting on your pre-amplifier.
Overheating protection
Cause:
(Indicator LED flashing red)
The loudspeaker features an overheating
Remedy:
protection circuit.
If you run the amplifier unit under extreme
load and it becomes too warm, this circuit
switches it off. The LED flashes red to
indicate that this has occurred.
If this should happen, please allow the
amplifier unit to cool down.
For safety reasons it is not possible to
switch the loudspeaker on again until you
have disconnected it completely from the
mains supply (disconnect the mains plug,
or turn the primary switch off).
