components. The following steps are aimed to help keep
the floor jack operational and well maintained.
1. Lubricate the thrust plate, the connecting points, the
plate and the pump mechanism with light oil.
2. Carry out a visual check with regard to cracked weld-
ing seams, bent, loose, missing parts or places from
where hydraulic oil is leaking.
3. The product must be checked straight away if you
know that it has been exposed to unusual loads or
knocks.
4. Cease use of any floor jack where you find any signs
of damage or wear, e.g. that it no longer functions
smoothly.
5. Clean all surfaces and keep all stickers and warning
signs on the appliance.
6. Check and maintain the prescribed oil level for the
thrust plate.
7. Check the thrust plate approx. every three months for
signs of rust or corrosion. Clean it and wipe it off with
an oily cloth, if necessary. When the appliance is not
being used, it should always be stored with lowered
saddle and thrust plate.
Always store your floor jack in a fully lowered state. In
doing so you will help to protect all the critical areas
against corrosion.
Do not use any brake or gearbox fluids or regular engine
oil, as the seals could be damaged by this. Always buy
and use products which are labelled as hydraulic oil for
floor jacks.

Checking the oil level

1. Always work on an oilproof surface and make sure
not to spill any oil. Clean up any accidental oil spills
with a cloth and dispose at a dedicated facility.
2. Remove the inspection plate.
3. Remove the sealing cap from the oil filler nozzle
whilst the floor jack is in the lowered position. Bring
the floor jack into a vertical position with the handle
socket pointing downwards. The oil should be on a
level with the bottom of the oil filler opening. Pour
not too much oil into the oil tank. Do not mix different
hydraulic oils. Always use new oil! Hydraulic oil
HLP46.
4. Put back the sealing cap on the oil filler nozzle and
the inspection plate.
5. Check that the floor jack is working.
6. Vent the hydraulic system if necessary.

Trouble shoot-
ing
VENTING THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM:
1. Turn the release valve anti-clockwise one full turn in
order to open it.
2. Pump eight full strokes with the handle.
3. Turn the release valve clockwise to close the valve.
4. Pump with the handle until the thrust plate reaches
the maximum height and continue with several
pumping movements to release the air trapped in the
thrust plate.
5. Press the sealing cap on the oil filler nozzle together
carefully and slowly to let out the trapped air.
6. Turn the release valve anti-clockwise one full turn
and lower the thrust plate into its lowest position.
Use the necessary force.
7. Turn the release valve clockwise into the closed posi-
tion and check the pump action is working properly. It
may be necessary to repeat the above steps several
times in order to completely remove the trapped air.
