Use
Fit the hip belt or shoulder belt
• Thread the hip belt into the belt loops.
• Attach should belt to the hooks of the training device.
• Adjust shoulder belt to the correct length.
Donning procedure
NOTICE
Donning the device incorrectly may cause delay when using the
oxygen self-rescuer in emergencies. The following exercises will
provide you with valuable time while using the oxygen self-rescuer
which could save your life.
Be sure to perform the following steps in the described sequence.
All devices
• Lift the opener until the tigh-
tening straps fall off.
NOTICE
The seal of the training device is elastic. It can be reused.
The seal for the oxygen self-rescuer tears to show that the device
was opened.
• Remove the top cover of the housing.
• Take the yellow neck strap by the loop and pull the device out of
the housing.

NOTICE
Do not pull the device out of the housing by the breathing hose.
This could damage the device.
If the oxygen self-rescuer is pulled out of the housing by the breath-
ing hose, it could be damaged. The breathing circuit would be inter-
rupted and contaminated air could be inhaled.
• Hold the device so that the
breathing bag points away
from the body.
• Put the neck strap around
your neck.
NOTICE
Perform the next steps for donning within about 20 seconds.
Donning the facepiece
Donning devices with mouthpiece and starter
• Bring the mouthpiece up to your face.
In doing so, the mouthpiece cap is removed from the mouthpiece.
The starter pin is pulled out of the device.
• Place the mouthpiece in your mouth.
In doing so, ensure that the breathing hose is not twisted.
The rubber piece should sit between the teeth and the lips.
• Cover the mouthpiece tightly with your lips.
• Press the nose clip open
with one hand and place it
on the nose.
The nose must be closed
tightly.
NOTICE
With the oxygen self-rescuer, the oxygen from the starter flows into
the breathing bag within 1 to 2 minutes. However, the breathing bag
does not fill completely. If necessary, use your hands to help unfold
the breathing bag. If the breathing bag does not fill, breath out pow-
erfully two or three times to fill the breathing bag.
• Hold the device as pictured
and pull on the end of the
neck strap, to lift the device.
Place the device in front of
the chest and do not lift it too
high. The device must not
pull on the mouthpiece.
• Remove corrective glasses
if necessary.
• If necessary, release the goggles from the device and from the
button strap and put them on.
• Put the chest harness around your body and close it.
• Tighten the chest harness.
