4. After phototherapy has been completed, it is recommended
that the BilEclipse be left on the skin until no future BiliChek
measurements are likely to be made. Although no further
changes in the skin will occur after the phototherapy lights are
turned off, leaving the patch in place will ensure that future
measurements are made from the same, protected location.
After Phototherapy
Appropriate measures should be taken to ensure that any
measurements taken from newborns after they have received
phototherapy are taken from a site on the forehead or sternum
that was not exposed to the phototherapy lights. The exact
procedures that should be used will depend on the type of
phototherapy protection used. Although leaving a BilEclipse
Phototherapy Protective Patch in place is not necessary once the
phototherapy lights are removed, it will ensure that the same site is
used for subsequent BiliChek measurements.
