Seat angle
Horizontal or forward tilted seat surface: fit the quick-release axle
bushing in the lowest position. But a seat angle tilted forwards also
depends on the position of the front wheel.
Pronounced seat tilt to the back: fit the quick-release axle holder in
the highest position. In this position the seat angle and centre of
gravity shift backwards and the wheelchair can tip over backwards
more easily. For safety reasons, please use anti-tip wheels!

9.1.2. Height of the front wheel

After adjusting the drive wheel position, now check the position of the
castors and adjust if necessary.
Undo the axle and remove it completely (Fig. 42).
Position the castor for the required seat height.
Put the axle back in the castor fork and tighten.
42
Adjust the steering axle perpendicular to the floor, in order to
achieve directional stability and safe handling (see Chapter 9.1.3).

9.1.3. Angle of the steering axle

By changing the position of the drive wheel or front wheel, the angle
of the steering axle may change. However this must always be at right
angles (90°) to the floor (Fig. 43).
Release the lock of the castor socket, by undoing both screws on
43
the outside (Fig. 44). Fine adjustment and fixing in a specific positi-
on is carried out using the stud screws within castor bushing.
Put the front wheel into the required position and then re-tighten
the fixing screws.
See the assembly instructions for further details.
By changing the seat angle there is a risk of tipping
over and therefore an increased risk of injury.
