Warning! The fluid lighter must have
burned completely before you can
close the lid. Otherwise, flames from
the fluid lighter may cause spurs of
flame or explosion within the grill once
you open the lid again.
• When the charcoal is glowing intense-
ly, distribute the charcoal evenly in the
centre of the charcoal grate.
• Then cover the lid. Let the temperature
rise to 100°C - 200°C and maintain this
temperature for 2 hours.
• Then increase the temperature to
175°C - 200°C. You can do so by
opening the slide vent in the small grill
chamber and the exhaust flap on the
smoke pipe some more and by adding
more charcoal or firewood.
• Maintain this temperature for about 1
hour. Then let the grill cool down com-
pletely.
• Important: Repeat this procedure
from time to time to maintain the condi-
tion of the grill.
• Warning: The temperature may never
exceed 260°C. The above procedure is
necessary to prepare the inside of the
grill for food preparation and to fire in
the heat-resistant paint on the outside.
The grill chamber lid should not be
completely closed during the pre-firing
procedure. Close it completely only for
a few minutes at the end of the proce-
dure.
