Positioning the stew
oven
Attention Risk of damage!
– Check the stability of the screws prior
to each use� If necessary, tighten all of
the screws again to ensure the oven is
standing securely�
• Before use, place the stew oven on
even, firm ground outdoors�
• Carry the stew oven using the furnace
handles (E)�

Before cooking

• Wash the cooking pot and lid with
warm, soapy water prior to first use�
• Pre-firing
Before cooking for the first time, the
stew oven must be pre-fired at a
temperature of 100° - 200° C for a
minimum of 1-2 hours�
This is necessary in order to make the
inside ready for cooking and to burn in
the heat-resistant paint outside�
Attention: The temperature must never
exceed 260° C�

Operation
Danger
The stew oven, the furnace
handles, the coal contained
screw
inside, and the food become
very hot during operation,
such that any contact with
these can lead to very severe
burns�
– Keep sufficient distance from the hot
parts, since any contact can lead to
severe burns� For cooking, always
wear kitchen gloves�
– Use only long-handled utensils with
heat-resistant grips�
– Do not wear any clothing with wide
sleeves�
– Use only dry lighters or special fluid
lighters compliant with EN 1860-3 as
firelighters�
1� Remove the cooking pot (C) and lid (A)�
2� Place 1-2 solid firelighters in the middle
of the charcoal grate (D)� Pay attention
to the manufacturer's instructions on
the packaging�
3� Layer a maximum of 12 kg of
charcoal
Open the furnace door (H2)� Light the
firelighters with a long match through
the opened furnace door�
4� Adjust the air supply to the furnace
using the furnace door� For a large
supply of air, open the furnace door
completely� For a small supply of
air, leave the furnace door merely a
fraction open�
5� Prior to first use, the furnace must be
pre-fired for a minimum 1-2 hours�
