7. DAB+ RADIO RECEPTION

7.1 What is DAB+?

DAB+ is a digital format that lets you hear crystal clear sound without any static.
Unlike conventional analogue radio stations, DAB+ broadcasts
several stations on the same frequency. This is called ensemble or multiplex.
An ensemble consists of the radio station as well as several service components or data services, which are
broadcast individually by the radio stations. Find out more at www.dabplus.de, dabplus.at or www.dabplus.ch,
for example.

7.2 DAB radio mode

Check whether the radio is in DAB mode. If you are not already in DAB mode, press the Mode button until
DAB appears in the display (check the display).
When using the radio for the first time or if the station list is empty, your radio will automatically search for
DAB radio stations. A progress bar displays the progress of this scan.
The number of stations found during the scan will also be displayed.
Once the scan is complete, your radio will select the first available station and begin playing. Stations are
listed in numerical and then alphabetical order as standard.
If you were listening to a particular DAB station when the radio was turned off, this station will be
automatically selected when you turn the radio back on.
Please ensure that the antenna is completely extended before trying to set a DAB+ station (a vertical
position is recommended). This ensures that the maximum signal strength is available when the radio begins
scanning.

7.3 Selecting DAB+ stations

1.
If you are not already in DAB mode, press the Mode button (1) until DAB appears in the display.
2.
Turn the right Tune knob (9) to work through available stations. If your desired station is shown in the
display and you stop turning the Tune knob, this station will be accepted and played.

7.4 Automatic DAB/DAB+ station scan

1.
If you are not already in DAB/DAB+ mode, press the Mode button (1) until DAB
appears in the display.
2.
Press the 'Scan' (2) button to begin a station search. 'Scanning' will appear in the display.
A display provides information about the progress of the search and the number of stations found. A
local search takes around ten seconds.
3.
If you want to use your DAB+ radio in another country, hold the Menu/Info button (6) down until
'complete search' appears in the display to begin a broader national and local search.
A display provides information about the progress of the search and the number of stations found.
