3.2 Structure and function of the BWT bestaqua 14ROC Coffee

The device generates permeate which is mixed with raw water. The quantity of raw water add-
ed can be determined at the filter head of the BWT 14ROC Coffee. The mixed permeate flows
through a second filter cartridge, the BWT bestaqua 14 Premium. The BWT bestaqua 14 Premi-
um is responsible for mineralising the water. A throughput diagram for the BWT bestaqua 14ROC
Coffee is shown in the envelope.
The water passes through the following steps:
1
Pre-filtration: Particles are removed.
2 Desalination: The water flows through the RO membrane.
3 Active carbon pre-filtration: Odorants and flavourings such as chlorine are removed; no oxida-
tion of the ion exchanger.
4
4 Ion exchanger: Decarbonisation and mineralisation with magnesium.
5 Active carbon filtration: Removal of chlorine from the blend.
6 Ultrafiltration: Retention of 99.9999% of all bacteria, cryptosporidia, giardia, protozoa, micro-
plastics and natural colourings (e.g.humic acids).

Operating and safety information

Despite all safety precautions, any product retains a residual risk, especially when used improp-
erly. Every technical device requires regular maintenance in order to functional flawlessly.
Adherence to all safety information and instructions for action is a basic requirement for safe
working. The local accident prevention and general safety provisions valid at the place of use of
the device also apply. Diagrams in these instructions are intended to aid understanding and may
deviate from the actual design of the device. No claims can be derived from them.
I
WARNING!
Any improper use, such as use of the filter system to treat water that is not of drinking water quality, carries a risk to health when the
f
water is drunk.
- microbiological hazard through contamination with pathogens
- hazard resulting from excessive concentrations of heavy metals or organic impurities
Where there is an official instruction to boil tap water as a result of microbial contamination, this also applies to filtered water. Once the
f
drinking water has been approved as harmless again, the filter cartridge must be urgently replaced and the connections cleaned.
Two type-tested back flow preventers in accordance with DIN EN 13959 are integrated into the filter head. If large kitchen appliances that
f
require greater protection against backflow due to their potential for contamination (e.g. cleaning chemicals) are installed downstream of
the filter system, appropriate protective devices shall be integrated in the large kitchen appliance.
Disconnect the filter system from the water supply before maintenance work on the drinking water supply. Flush the water pipe before
f
the filter system is reconnected.
The power supply to the device and the end devices must be disconnected before installation (unplug).
f
I
CAUTION!
Please note the country-specific installation provisions (e.g. DIN 1988, EN 1717), general hygiene conditions and technical data for the pro-
f
tection of drinking water.
Improper installation of the RO device can cause damage to the device.
f
The feed water must not exceed the limit values stated in the technical data nor the lime solubility threshold.
f
Only cold water that meets the statutory requirements of drinking water quality and the quality requirements in Chapter 2 may be fed
f
into the device.
Install a check valve upstream of the RO device.
f
Only hoses that adhere to DVGW W 543 may be used to connect the device.
f
If the product has been stored at under 0°C, leave the unpacked product at the ambient temperature of the installation location for at
f
least 24 hours before commissioning.
The device must not be installed close to heat sources or naked flames.
f
Chemicals, solvents and vapours must not come into contact with the RO device.
f
The installation location must be frost-resistant and protected against direct sunlight.
