3. Playback
This recorder is provided with numerous playback conven-
ience functions.
These convenience functions can be controlled easily with the
jog-knob (inner knob) and the shuttle-ring (outer ring) on the
front of the recorder.
These convenience functions are very helpful and user-
friendly if you wish to edit your recordings electronically
(joining or inserting new pictures or scenes to or into existing
recordings).
The following settings are possible:
You can adjust the playback speed – forwards and reverse –
with the shuttle-ring.
You can advance the individual frames – forwards and rever-
se – with the jog-knob.
You can adjust the slow motion speed – forwards and reverse
– with the jog-knob.
When » C A M E R A « appears in the recorder´s display, the
Jog-Shuttle function is switched to the camcorder. If this

is the case, press the
button on the
MASTER SLAVE EDIT
recorder.

Start playback by pressing the

button.
During playback, turn the shuttle-ring to change the playback
speed (see illustration).

If the picture trembles or appears unsteady during the
playback function of freeze-frame, you can optimize the
picture quality as follows.
Pull out the second level of the remote control.

Then adjust the picture with the

button to suit
your personal taste, and conclude the adjustment with

*Picture disturbances may occur during long-play operation and NTSC playback.
There is no still picture function during NTSC playback.
** The duration of the slow motion function is limited; after this time is exceeded, the
recorder automatically resumes playback.

By turning the jog knob you can view the previous or the fol-
lowing individual freeze-frames step by step (see illustration).
» JOG II « appears in the display of the recorder.
Depending on the direction in which you turn the knob, you
can select the previous or the following freeze-frame.

Press the
button to switch to playback.
Changing the Slow-Motion Speed,
Forward or Reverse*
During playback, turn the shuttle-ring to switch to forward or
reverse slow motion.
Turning the jog-knob reduces the slow motion speed (see
illustration).

Depending on the direction in which you turn the knob, the
slow motion speed increases or decreases.
By turning the shuttle-ring you can set any desired slow-
motion speed.

button to switch back to normal playback.

There is no still picture function during NTSC playback.
