Connection

Do not switch on the receiver ATS-80R associated
with the transmitter until the transmitter has been
completely connected and configured.
1) Connect the antenna provided to the jack
ANTENNA (11) and put the antenna in a vertical
position.
2) The signals of the inputs LOOP IN (13) and AUX
IN (15) and the signals of the Bluetooth receiver
can be monitored via headphones: Use the cable
(with two 3.5 mm plugs) to connect the head-
phones provided to the jack
For simultaneous interpreting, use the head-
phones with the microphone connected; see
chapter 4.3, step 3).
3) For power supply, connect the power supply unit
provided to the jack DC IN (19) and to a mains
socket (230 V/ 50 Hz). A strain relief is provided
to prevent accidental disconnection of the plug.
Wrap the cable around the strain relief if required

The other connections depend on the application:
4.1 Lectures, training courses,
presentations etc.
1) Connect the microphone for the person speaking
to the jack MIC (16). Set the switch LINE / MIC /
PH PWR (17) to the corresponding position:
MIC
PH PWR
Attention! Do not connect any microphone
with unbalanced output to the jack MIC when
the switch is in the position PH PWR; the micro-
phone may be damaged.
2) The jacks AUX IN (15) can be used, for example, to
connect a CD / MP3 player for audio reproduction
such as background music or music during breaks.
As an alternative or when more than one
microphone is required, all audio sources can
be connected to a mixer: Connect the output
of the mixer to the jacks AUX IN or to the jack
MIC. When connecting it to the jack MIC, set the
switch LINE / MIC /PH PWR to the position LINE.

3) Via the Bluetooth function, the transmitter can be
paired with a smartphone or another Bluetooth
signal source and can be used, for example, to
transmit music from a smartphone to the receiver
(see chapter 6.1).
4) To record the audio signals transmitted or to re-
produce these audio signals via speakers, connect
the recorder or the amplifier for the speakers to
the jacks MIX OUT (14).

4.2 Exhibitions

In exhibitions (e. g. in museums or galleries), different
types of information on the exhibits can be transmit-
ted on different channels. The desired information
will be provided when the corresponding channel
on the receiver is selected.
1) Each information source (e. g. an MP3 player
repeating the information in a loop) requires a
separate transmitter ATS-80ST. Connect each
information source to the jacks AUX IN (15) of
a transmitter.
2) Set the transmitters to different channels
(chapter 5.3).
3) Press the button FEED THRU (9) to transmit the
signals of the information source.

4.3 Simultaneous interpreting

Page 15 shows an example of how to use ATS-80ST
for simultaneous interpreting: The source language
of the person speaking is reproduced via speakers
and additionally transmitted via channel CH 01. Two
interpreters translate what is being said into two
other languages which are transmitted via the chan-
nels CH 02 and CH 03. By setting the corresponding
channel, every listener provided with a receiver ATS-
80R will be able to select the language desired.
1) Connect the microphone for the person speaking
to the microphone input of the amplifier that is
also required for the speakers. Connect the line
output of the amplifier to the jack LOOP IN (13)
of Transmitter 1.
2) Connect the jack LOOP OUT (12) of Transmitter
1 to the jack LOOP IN of Transmitter 2 and pro-
ceed in the same way to interconnect all other
transmitters. The source language of the person
speaking is routed via the LOOP connection so
that each interpreter will be able to hear what is
being said via headphones.
3) Connect the headphone / microphone combina-
tion provided to the jack
ters for the interpreters: Connect the plug on the
gooseneck of the separate microphone provided
to the jack on the bottom of the earpiece. Then
