FIXED HEAD UNITS
Height of cut
The rear roll should be adjusted to give the required
initial height of cut. The rear roll must be set so that
it is parallel with the bottom blade. All three units
should be set so that they all cut at exactly the same
height.
The height of cut is determined by the position of the
rear roll in relation to the bottom blade. The heights
can be varied from 13mm (1/2in.) to 63mm (2 1/2in.)
and can be adjusted in 6mm (1/4in) steps as follows:
NOTE: The carriage plates on the rear unit are
different from those on the front two units. The
bottom 4 holes in the carriage plates on the front
units are not used in this application.

Remove complete unit from the lifting arm
and turn upside down.
2.
To set the initial minimum height of cut the
locating pins should be in the top holes of the
carriage plate.
3.
Using the setting bar set as Fig.22, release
then locknuts by removing the 'R' clip and
move the barrel and pin away from the
carriage plate and rotate in the required
direction to align underside of setting bar
screw head with the bottom blade lip. When
the roll has been set, tighten locknut, locate
pin in top hole of carriage plate and replace 'R'
clip

Repeat instruction 3 on the opposite end of
the unit and ensure the parallel checking
screw is making contact with the bottom
blade.
5.
To change the height of cut, remove the 'R' clip
and move the barrel and pin away from the
carriage plate. Relocate the pin in the required
hole and replace the 'R' clip.
6.
Repeat instructions 1 to 5 for all units
Note: Instruction 5 can be carried out with the units
fitted to the lift arms.
