3. SET UP

3.1. Adjustment of the
brakes / brake handles
IMPORTANT – before first flight with your FLEXOR is necessary
to check and adapt the brakes/brake handles position according
to your hang points. It can be adjusted also by pilot preference
and his flying style.
We highly recommend adjusting the brakes under the
supervision of your instructor or experienced pilot familiar with
this type of settings.
The risers have options for an upper or lower position of the
brake handles. For low hang points should be the main brake
pulley at the top loop and the wingtip steering line should lead
through the appropriate pulley only.

For high hang points should be the main brake pulley at the
bottom loop and the wingtip steering line should lead through the
appropriate pulley and bottom low friction ring. Both main brake
lines should be symmetrical and of the same length. Also, the
wingtip steering lines should be symmetrical and of the same length.
The setting should be checked by inflating the glider in a
laminar wind flow with the engine off. If the canopy is stabilised
in the air, check that the trailing edge that is not being pulled
down. When you slightly pull the brakes you should have 5-10
centimetres of movement before the brakes start to pull down
on the trailing edge.

3.2. Trimmers

Make yourself familiar with the operation of the trimmer system
and check for a smooth operation. Set the trimmer system to

standard neutral trim for take off and landing. When fully open,

FLEXOR can achieve very high airspeeds. When not under
power, a steeper glide ratio and higher sink rates are also

evident, which whilst ideal for descending, should not be used

for take-off or landing.

3.3. Speed Bar
5,6
5,9
Accelerator Ensure that the speed bar is routed correctly
90-130
110-150
according to the harness manual. To set up a speed bar on
the ground, ask a friend to pull your risers into their in-flight
position while you sit in your harness. Now adjust the length of
the line so that the bar sits just beneath your seat. You should
now be able to hook your heel in to the secondary loop of the
accelerator. The accelerator must be slack enough to ensure
that the speed system is not activated (pulled down) in normal
flight, but not so long that it is impossible to use the full range
of the speed system or so as to pose a risk to the propeller.
If the harness is fitted with a front mounted reserve, the speed
bar lines must pass under the reserve container and the reserve
bridle so that it can be deployed correctly. Use of the speed bar
increases the maximum speed of the paraglider by up to 30%
of the trim speed.
Once set up, test the full range of the speed system in
calm flying conditions: ensure that both risers are pulled
symmetrically during operation. Fine-tuning can be completed
when you are back on the ground.
