and highly flammable. Handle petrol in a well ventilated
area away from any sources of flames, sparks and higher
temperatures. Do not smoke when handling petrol!
            Never fill up the petrol tank while the engine is
running. Allow the engine to cool down before refilling.
VI. Starting the engine
WARNING
y Due to the toxicity of exhaust fumes, the engine
(powered equipment) must not be operated in unventila-
ted and insufficiently ventilated areas, poisoning hazard.
WARNING
            T he engine must not be operated at an incline of
more than 16° relative to the horizontal plane, since
at a greater incline the lubrication system is insuffi-
cient and this leads to serious damage to the engine.
1. Open the petrol supply to the carburettor by turning
the valve (fig. 3, position 2) to the "ON" position.
2. Set the motor shut off button (fig. 3, position 3) to
the "ON" position.
3. Set the choke lever (fig. 3, position 5) to position
4. Set the throttle lever (fig. 3, position 6) to the area between
the "turtle and the hare" - to set medium engine speed.
5. Slightly pull out the handle with the starting cord
(fig. 3, position 4) and then strongly pull it out. If the
engine does not start, holding the handle with your
hand allow it to return to its initial position and repe-
at the starting process.
ATTENTION
y Do not release the handle of the manual
starter, rather allow it to return to the initial
position while holding it since releasing the
pulled out handle suddenly would result in
a rapid return and this could cause damage to
the starting mechanism.
6. After starting the engine, slowly move the choke
lever (fig. 3, position 5) to the opposite position,
otherwise the engine will choke.
7. Use the throttle lever (fig. 3, position 6) to set the
required engine speed (power).

AT HIGH ABOVE SEA LEVEL ALTITUDES
y At a higher above sea level altitude the fuel:air
ratio changes in the carburettor towards floo-
ding with fuel (insufficient amount of air). This
results in a loss of performance, increased fuel
consumption, clogging of the spark plug and
more difficult starting. Operation at high above
sea level altitudes negatively affects exhaust
fume emissions.
y Under these conditions, the engine performance can
be increased by replacing the main carburettor jet with
one that has a smaller bore and changing the position
of the air:fuel mixture adjustment screw. If you wish to
use the engine at an altitude greater than 1500 m.a.s.l,
have the carburettor readjusted at an authorised servi-
ce centre for the Heron® brand. The carburettor may
only be readjusted by an authorised service centre!
ATTENTION
y Even with the recommended readjustment of the
engine's carburettor, the performance nevertheless
.
declines by about 3.5 % per every 305 m of above sea
level altitude. Without performing the above-described
readjustments, the loss in performance is even greater.
y When the engine is operated at an above sea level
altitude that is lower than for which the carburettor
is set, the carburettor has a lower fuel mixture, which
again results in a loss in performance. Therefore, it is
necessary to readjust the carburettor.
ATTENTION
y The electronic oil pan level monitoring sensor
(fig. 3, position 15) that automatically turns off
the engine when the oil level in the oil pan decli-
nes, must not be removed from the engine.
