Absorbing Line

The Criterion
loudspeakers feature what we call an
Absorbing Line. This line represents a
greatly shortened transmission line, and in
this respect is similar to a bass reflex
system.
The lining of the duct also form a neat
visual conclusion to the line.
If the distance from the speakers to the wall
is relatively great (> 0.5 m) the bass level
can be raised slightly be removing the
absorber; this increases the liveliness of the
sound image.
The Criterion
loudspeakers feature what we call an
Absorbing Line. This is a true transmission
line duct, but lined with a damping material.
This feature lowers
frequency of the loudspeakers, expanding
the frequency range
reproduced. The absorbent material lining
the duct reduces resonances, helping to
make the bass range faster, more rounded
and more accurate.
