storage battery should be recharged immediately or the dry
cells replaced.
1.2 Operation on UHER Special Storage BaUery Z 21 2 or
Z 214
UHER 4000 REPORT MONITOR may be powered by UHER
storage batteries Z 212 and Z 214. and storage-ba-ttery opera-
tion is especially economical and practical for professional re-
parting. Insert the battery into the battery compartment as
shown in Fig. 2, making certain that the side with the
"+"
andl" -" markings fAces upward.

124 A1 is needed to operate the REPORT MONI-
TOR on mains voltages (100 -130 V
or
200 - 240 V a.c.) and to
recharge UHER storage batteries Z 212 and Z 214.

Betore making mains connection, ascertain the voltage of the
mains power. Then, if necessary, use a co in to turn the voltage
selector on PSU Z 124 A 1 (see Fig. 3) to the proper voltage
reading.

Note also that the 50-mA luse supplied in the Z 124 A1 is
tor use with voltages tram 100 to 130; for cur~nts
with 200 to
240 volts, lhe 50-mA tuse must be replaced

a 1 OO-mA tuse.
A coin mayaiso be used to screw out the tusdholder.
Use UHER lead K 713 or K 714 to connecl PSU Z 124 Al
to the RE PORT MONITOR, plugging the lead into lhe
f',
socket
on the side panel of the tape recorder.
Dry cell or storage batteries may remain in the battery com-
partment during operation with the pSU. The PSU, however,
may itself also be inserted into the batterycompartment: Simply
remave !he bottom plate 01 the REPORT MONITOR and insert
the PSU so that the leUered side
taces
upward and the PSU
. lead may just be run thraugh the cut-out in the bottom plate
(see Fig. 4).
The lead may then be plugged into a mains autlet.
