8. Care and Maintenance
UHER 4000 REPORT MONITOR is constructed in keeping with
the latest technology. It has been carefully inspected and will
operate almost free of servicing 10r a long time. Under normal
conditions and usa it is not necessary to cil or lubricate any
moving parts tor years.
It
is only necessary to check fram
time to time to see whether deposits of dust or bits 01 tape
coating have formed on the magnetic heads; i1 yes, the record
and playback tone will become muddy and the high frequencies
noticeably misslng.
Für cleaning, remave the cover (A) located directly behind the
control keys (see Fig. 7). The pressure roller (B). tape guldes (C).

(H) will then be easily ac-
cessible tor c1eaning with UHER Special Cleaning Kit Z 172.
The capstan
(J),
tao, should be cleaned to rem ave any de-
posits of dust er tape coating that may have accumulated
on it.
Let us here emphasize once again that it is extremely important
to remove dead batteries at once, even when leak-proof cells
are used.
UHER 4000 REPORT MONITOR Is a highly developed precl-
sion machine; its trouble-free operation depends upon theexact
co-functioning of its mechanical and electrical components.
Should malfunctions appear at any time', we recommend con-
sulting anexperienced technician orthe nearest UHERservicing
depot where experienced hands will be able to correct the diffi-
culty (that will usually be of minor nature) easily. We warn
strongly against any tampering by non-technicians.
