amination Certificate/ IEC Ex-Certificate of Conformity.

2.1 Safety instructions

Target group:
For skilled electricians and suitable qualified, instructed
personnel in accordance with national legislation,
including the relevant standards and, where applicable, in
acc. with IEC/EN 60079-14 on electrical apparatus for explosive
atmospheres
The terminal boxes type Ex-Cell XL-T are not suitable for Zone 0 and
tone 20 hazardous areas.
The temperature class at gas respectively the surface temperature at
dust and explosion group marked on the terminal boxes have to be
observed.
The requirements of the IEC/EN 60079-31 regarding excessive dust
deposits and temperature shall be taken into consideration by user.
Prior to putting the terminal boxes into operation, they shall be
checked in accordance with the instructions as per section 6.
Before initial operation, any foreign matter shall be removed from the
terminal boxes type Ex-Cell XL-T.
The national safety and accident prevention regulations and the
following safety guidelines instructions that, like this text, are set in
italics shall be observed!

Conformity with standards

The terminal boxes type Ex-Cell XL-T meet the requirements of the
standards specified in the EC-Declaration of conformity, enclosed
separately.
References to standards and directives in these operating instructions
always relate to the latest version. Other additions (e.g. details relating to
the year) shall be observed.

Field of application

The terminal boxes type Ex-Cell XL-T are suitable for use in Zone 1 and 2 as
well as in Zones 21 and 22 hazardous areas acc. to IEC/EN 60079-10-1 and
IEC/EN 60079-10-2!
The enclosure materials employed, including the exterior metal parts, are
made of high-quality materials which ensure a corrosion protection and
resistance to chemical substances corresponding to the requirements in a
"normal industrial atmosphere":
- AISI 316L (1.4404) Stainless steel
- AISI 304 (1.4301)Stainless steel
(Electro-polished or natural finish
- AISI 316L and AISI 304 painted
(not permitted for dust (2D) applications)
For use in an extremely aggressive atmosphere, please contact Eaton /
Cooper Crouse Hinds GmbH or their agent for additional information on
the chemical stability of the non-metallic parts.

Application / Properties

The terminal boxes type Ex-Cell XL-T are intended for the distribution of
electrical energy, e.g. light circuits, heating circuits, control circuits,
intrinsically safe circuits etc.(as to temperature class, explosion group,
permissible ambient temperature, see technical data).

The painted terminal boxes type Ex-Cell XL-T
ATEX - IEC
may only be used in areas with potential explosive dust atmospheres if
high or repeated charging processes (e.g. air ions in the vicinity of high
voltage electrodes, high speed flowing liquids and pneumatic transfer of
powders, and paper or plastic foils transported by machines) are surely
excluded. Manual rubbing is not considered to be a high charging process.
The electrical limiting values that are decisive for the intrinsic
safety shall be observed.
Applications other than described are not permitted without COOPER
CROUSE-HINDS´s prior written consent.
For the operation, the instructions stated in section 7 of the operating
instructions shall be observed.
If no information on the safe use of any third-party products is included in
these instructions, contact the respective manufacturer of the equipment.
In addition to these instructions, the order-related, separate attached
documentation shall be observed.
The responsibility for the suitability and proper use of the
terminal boxes type Ex-Cell XL-T lies with the user.
The information given in points 2, 3 and 4 must be considered
when determining the suitability for the use of the enclosures.
