Using the appliance

Using the appliance

Before the first use

• Before using the appliance for heating food,
make sure that
• it is correctly installed and connected to the power
supply (see corresponding chapter).
• all packaging material, including protective films
(except for the nameplate) and transport protection
parts have been removed from the appliance (inclu-
ding the cooking chamber) and accessories.
• the appliance and power cord are undamaged.
• Clean the appliance, including the cooking chamber,
and all accessories with a soft cloth, warm water and
a little detergent.

Energy saving tips

For the hob
• If possible, use a lid for cooking so that the heat is
retained and does not escape.
• To make the best use of the heat capacity, use cookwa-
re that is appropriate for the size of the cooking zone
you want to use, or select a cooking zone that matches
the size of your cookware as closely as possible.
Make sure that the cookware is centred on the cooking
zone.
• Start cooking with a high power setting and switch
down when the food is hot.
• Reducing the amount of liquid and fat can shorten the
cooking time.
• When heating several dishes in succession, use the
same cooking zone(s) to make use of the residual heat.
To do this, pay attention to the cooking zone indicator
lights at the front of the hob, which indicate zones
that are still hot.
• If you no longer use a cooking zone, always switch it off
immediately.
38
• Heat the empty cooking chamber to 250°C for at least
30 minutes to remove the new appliance odour.
This may also produce a slight smoke, which is harmless.
During this process, ensure that the kitchen is well
ventilated, close the doors and keep children and pets
away until all vapours have evaporated.
• Then wipe the cooking area with a cloth and soapy
water, dry all surfaces and fit the slide-in racks.
• The appliance is now ready for use.
For the oven
• To avoid heat loss, always ensure that the oven door
is fully closed during operation and do not open it
more often than necessary.
• If possible, use dark black-lacquered, coated or ena-
melled baking pans, as these absorb the heat
of the oven particularly well.
• Only preheat the oven when indicated in the recipe or in
the application table.
• Heating an empty oven requires a lot of energy.
To save energy, use the residual heat, if you want to
cook other dishes.
• At the end of longer cooking times, switch off the oven
about 10 minutes earlier to use the residual heat for
finishing.
• Always switch off the appliance after use.
• Always keep the cooking chamber clean.
