Insert the 17B38, 17B39, 17B40, 17B41, 17B84, 17B85 System Side Bars or
the 17Y105, 17Y107 System Lamination Bars as connection elements into the
Knee Joint connection channels. The use of 636W28 Ottobock Special Adhesive
is required to stabilise the bars in the connection channels.
To do this, degrease the attachment surfaces using 634A1 Ottobock Thinner
and Solvent. Mix the contents of the two tubes containing special adhe-
sive and hardener, and apply to the joint's connection channels. Insert the
System Bars and fasten with the 501T7=7.5×9×M5 Oval Head Screws.
Allow three to four hours for the adhesive to dry; final bonding strength will
be achieved after 16 hours.
The Ottobock System Bars and System Joints are made of steel that is
both rust-resistant and acid-resistant. We recommend a final grinding and
polishing for increased protection against corrosion and 618T40 Sintering
Powder for coating.
In order to ensure that the locking mechanism is triggered simultaneously,
the two 17Y57 Lock Bales can be permanently joined after adjustment.
The 17Y53 Connection Tube must be used for welds and solder joints.
Connect the lock bales with a traction element (e.g. elastic strap) to permit
engaging in the locking plate.
NOTICE
Damage caused by heat. Do not apply heat in excess of 300 °C (572 °F)
because the material's temper will be destroyed. Hardened joint parts
should not be heat-treated.
INFORMATION
Before administering the orthosis to the patient, make sure the parallel
locks are engaging safely. Instruct the patient on the proper handling
of the orthosis.
2.2 Maintenance
Use only 633F7 Special Lubricant. To ensure proper function, make sure
no dirt particles enter the joint mechanism. Use appropriate protection
devices (e.g. joint protectors), as necessary.
