INFORMATION
Because a range of flexion adjustments are possible with the 17B44
System Knee Joints, the Ottobock orthotic components are subjected
to increased loading stresses.
1.3 Indications
Partial or complete paralysis of the lower limb muscles with extension deficit
in the knee joint. Specific indications must be determined by the physician.

The traditional lock mechanism of these System Knee Joints is composed
of the 17Y55 Locking Plate and the 17Y57 Lock Bale. The extension stop
angle of the 17B44 System Knee Joint can be changed by changing the
position of the 17Y55 Locking Plate on the toothed 17Y58 Countersunk
Bolt. The teeth of both the locking plate and the bolt have hardened surfaces
which require form-fit assembly. Use the 501S55=M6×20×16 Countersunk
Allen Head Screw to fix the locking plate to the bolt.
2 Handling
2.1 Processing
After adjusting the desired knee extension stop angle, tighten the
501S55=M6×20×16 Countersunk Allen Head Screw using an Allen
wrench. Torque to approx. 12 Nm. (8.8 ft./lb; 106 in./lb.).
For symmetrical installation of the 17Y58 Bolt, make sure the chamfered
edge of the square shoulder faces the extension stop (fig. 2).
