Functions on the remote unit
Adjusting the volume
20 To turn up or reduce volume in your headset, press successively towards + or – on the volume control (VII) on the remote unit.
When the volume reaches maximum or minimum, you will hear a signal in your headset (see Technical Data).
Muting the microphone
21 To talk without your caller hearing you, press the mute button (VIII) on the remote unit. You are still able to hear your caller.
When the microphone is muted, you will hear a signal every 3 seconds in your headset (see Technical Data).
Answering calls with the remote unit
When you are not at your desk, you can answer incoming calls with the remote unit, if you have installed the Ellipse Hook
Switch (see Hook Switch user guide).
22 When you receive an incoming call, the Ellipse Hook Switch device sends a ring tone to your headset (see Technical Data).
Press the red hook switch button (IX) on the remote unit. The Ellipse Hook Switch device will lift the handset from your
telephone and connect your call. To hang up, press the Hook Switch button again.
Charging the battery
23 When the Ellipse is not in use, place the remote unit in the base unit and the headset/handset button (I) in handset position.
This ensures optimum battery lifetime. When placed in the base unit, the battery charging indicator (V) automatically lights up
and the remote unit is charged. It takes 3 hours to fully charge the battery. If you use Ellipse in between, charging takes
longer. A fully charged battery provides 12 hours of talktime. An optional second battery can charge in the base unit while
the remote is in use, thus allowing 24 hours a day, seven days a week talktime. To replace the battery, depress the button on
the back of the battery and pull. If battery power gets too low, Ellipse lets you know by sending a signal every 20 seconds in
your headset (see Technical Data).
Troubleshooting
If you do not get a dial tone:
•
Check that all cords and jacks are connected correctly.
•
Make sure that the Quick-Disconnector is fully inserted in the remote unit.
•
Make sure that the power unit adaptor is plugged in and has power.
•
Make sure that the headset/handset button on top of the base unit is in headset position and that the on-line indicators are lit
up.
•
Make sure that the battery is properly installed in the remote unit.
•
Make sure that the battery is fully charged.
•
Make sure that the serial numbers in the bottom of the base unit and on the back of the remote unit match. The numbers
must match for operation.
If you hear signals in your headset:
•
A signal every 20 seconds means that the battery is getting low and needs to be charged:
•
For proper charge, make sure that the battery charging indicator is lit when the remote unit is placed in base unit.
•
The battery may need up to three charge and discharge cycles to reach full capacity.
•
A signal every 10 seconds means that you are out of range, move closer to base unit.
•
A signal every 3 seconds means that the mute function is on.
If callers have problems hearing you:
•
Make sure that the mute function is off (see Step 6).
•
Re-adjust the microphone volume as described in Step 11.
•
Check the position of the headset microphone and make sure that it is placed at the corner of your mouth.
•
You may be out of range, move closer to base unit.
•
Noise may be caused, if the base unit is placed too close to your telephone.
