Intended use
•
Insert a blind rivet in the nosepiece.
•
With the aid of the riveting tool, insert the blind rivet into the rivet hole.
•
Press the riveting tool against the material and overcome the preset triggering force*.
•
The rivet setting can then be started in two different ways:
Pressing and holding the switch:
Press and hold the switch to start riveting. The pulling process stops automatically when the rivet reaches
the rear end position. The riveting tool automatically re-assumes the front starting position when the
switch is released.
Tapping the switch:
Riveting is triggered by briefly tapping and immediately releasing the switch. As soon as the mandrel
breaks off, the riveting tool stops and automatically re-assumes the front starting position.
•
Riveting can only be triggered when the preset triggering force* is reached at the material to be
joined and the switch is pressed or tapped simultaneously.
•
Eject the spent mandrel by tilting to the rear into the spent mandrel container or to the front through
the nosepiece.
*The triggering force of the Bird series with spring-loaded trigger system is:
•
60 N without additional compression spring
•
85 N with 1 additional compression spring
•
110 N with 2 additional compression springs

Maintenance
Cleaning or changing jaws (No. 4).
The complete jaw mechanism must be maintained regularly!
•
Detach the battery from the riveting tool.
•
Unscrew union nut (No. 9) and steel head sleeve (No. 2) and clean inside if necessary.
•
Remove the compression springs (No. 11) (possible number of compression springs for triggering
force: 0 to 6 springs).
•
Using two WAF 17 and WAF 14 open-ended spanners release jaw housing (No. 3) from adapter (No.
6).
•
Remove jaws (No. 4), clean and oil sliding surfaces; replace if worn.
•
Check jaw pusher (No. 5) for wear and replace if necessary.
•
Reassemble the jaw mechanism in the reverse order; screw together jaw housing with adapter; fit
compression springs; tighten steel head sleeve with union nut.
•
Reconnect battery to riveting tool.
