6. Installing the hob

6.1 Installation requirements

• Before installation, make sure that the local distribution con-
!
ditions (type of gas and gas pressure) are compatible with the
equipment characteristics. The characteristics of this appliance
are indicated on the label or nameplate.
• This appliance does not have an integral exhaust system for
combustion products and must be installed and connected in
accordance with applicable installation and ventilation require-
ments.
Room requirements
• This appliance can be installed in a kitchen/living room or utility room,
but not in a room with a bath or shower.
• The hob must not be installed in a 1-room apartment less than 20 m3 in
size.
• LPG models must never be installed in a room or indoor area below
ground level, i.e. in a basement.
Ventilation requirements
Hint: The use of a gas cooking appliance leads to the generation of heat and
moisture in the room in which it is installed.
Always ensure good ventilation, use existing ventilation openings in the
room or install a mechanical ventilation system.
Open a window if there is no fully functional mechanical ventilation system
(e.g. cooker hood), especially if you are using more than one heating plate
at the same time.
• The room in which the appliance is installed, in particular when other fuel-
operated appliances are present, shall be ventilated in accordance with
BS5440: Part 2.
• An opening window or similar shall be provided;
In some rooms, permanent ventilation may also be required.
• If the room volume is between 5 and 10 m3, a 50 cm2 ventilation opening is
required, unless there is a door that opens directly to the outside.
• For a room volume of less than 5 m3, a ventilation opening with an effecti-
ve area of 100 cm2 is required.
