National Technical Approval
No. Z-40.11-280
(8) When installing a containment system, containers must be fitted with a type "C-B 3" filing
system pursuant to National Technical Approval No. Z-40.7-492 and an emptying system
with a usability certificate from the building authorities.
4.3
Assembly
4.3.1
General
(1) The bottoms of the containers must stand on a flat, rigid slab or a carefully sealed and
secured flat storage surface. Installations outside buildings shall have a foundation that can
withstand the force exerted on the ground anchors in the event of forced uprooting (see
Annex 1.4).
(2) In high-water or flood areas, the containers must be positioned where they cannot be
flooded.
(3) In installations outside buildings, the containers must be secured against wind loads in
compliance with Annex 1.4.
(4) The containers must be installed level at their location. The installation instructions
delivered with the containers (see section 5.1.4 of the "Special Provisions") must be
observed.
4.3.2

Connecting the pipelines

(1) When connecting the pipelines to the filling system and/or container nozzles (for single
containers), care shall be taken not to exert any force and to ensure that the containers are
not subjected to any additional, unforeseen external loads.
(2) Aeration and ventilation lines shall be adequately dimensioned and it shall not be possible
to seal them off. The ventilation line must be designed to remain sealed at 1 bar
overpressure. Several containers may be connected to the same aeration and ventilation line
only if the liquids they store and/or their vapours do not combine to produce dangerous
compounds. Aeration and ventilation lines or systems may not terminate in closed spaces.
This does not apply to containers with 1,000 l volume installed individually to store heating oil
and diesel fuel. Outlet holes shall be protected against the ingress of rainwater.
4.3.3
Determining the installation conditions for storing heating oil and diesel
(1) The installation conditions for containers and containers in container systems for storing
heating oils and diesel fuels listed in section 1 (3) a) to d) must comply with TRwS 791-1
section 4.2.2. Taking into account the requirements listed there for the system in question, the
containers may be connected together to form container systems with up to 5 containers of
the same size and type in a maximum of two rows.
(2) Unless using the system with a leak indicator, access to the leak detection strips must be
at least 40 cm in compliance with Section 1.9.
4.4
Documentation and confirmation of conformity
The company performing this task shall produce confirmation of conformity that confirms
correct erection, installation and assembly in conformity with the manufacturer's installation
instructions and the provisions of the national technical approval, under consideration of
technical approval of the suitability of equipment and accessories. This confirmation shall be
submitted to the operator in each individual case, who will store it in the building file.
