Configuration Lan Ports - Elcon ELCONNECT next BIG 10 Bedienungsanleitung

Hereby the system distinguishes between external and internal ports. Outer ports are the LAN
ports 0...3, market with LAN1...4 at the device. Port 4 is at the WAN side (DSL) and further
used with the term "WAN". Furthermore two inner ports are available, that are used for
routed packets (marked with "User" and "CPU"). The "User" port directs to the LAN side and
the "CPU" port to the WAN side. Both ports are connected to the internal CPU.
All comprehensive configurations are described in the following chapters. One example helps
to understand the options.

3.8.1 Configuration LAN Ports

This chapter allows you to separately configure the LAN-interfaces of the BIG 10.
You have two possibilities to connect LAN ports with the WAN:
1. switched: the LAN ports are directly connected to the WAN port
2. routed: the LAN ports are connected with the WAN port via the CPU (the internal
processor).
Example: LAN ports 1...3 are available (LAN4 is deactivated) and LAN2 and LAN3 are
directly connected with the WAN interface.

Warning Possible Firewall settings are not available for the Ethernet ports set to switch
mode. At those ports connected devices are not secured anymore by the internal
firewall of the BIG 10!
The LAN port configuration allows setting up the Flow-Control and Auto-Negotiation.
