Assembling the magnetic tape

(Magnetic tape is not included in the scope of delivery)
A complete description and installation
instructions for magnetic tapes can be found in
the document titled User's Guide – Magnetic
Tape (see Tab. 10-2 on page 30).
NOTICE
Damage to the magnetic tape
Hard tools may cause damage to the magnetic surface
of the tape. Even damage that appears slight (e.g.
scratches, dents) can affect the function and linearity.
► Do not use hard tools to install the magnetic tape!
► Replace damaged magnetic tapes!
Ideally, the system should include a groove or a stop edge
for the magnetic tape that clearly defines its transverse
position.
Tape attachment example:
1. Mark the reference edge of the tape on the machine
part.
2. Thoroughly remove any oil, grease, dust, etc. (use
acetone or similar) from the mounting surface of the
tape and allow to dry completely.
3. Align the magnetic tape corresponding to the print (see
Fig. 4-1 and Fig. 4-2 on page 10).
4. Remove the protective film on the rear end of the
magnetic tape, align and then lightly apply the
magnetic tape.
5. Remove another piece of protective film, align the tape,
apply lightly by hand and then repeat this step until the
entire tape has been applied.
6. Make sure the alignment is correct and manually press
the tape by hand over its entire length.

Assembling the sensor head

The sensor head housing has bore holes with M4 threads.
Using screws, the sensor head can be connected two
different ways to the machine part: using either the M4
thread in the sensor head or the M3 thread in the machine
part.

► Guide the screws through the housing and screw into
the machine part (see Fig. 4-3 and Tab. 4-1).
