Assembling the magnetic tape

(Magnetic tape is not included in the scope of delivery.)
A complete technical description and installation
instructions for magnetic tapes can be found in
the document titled User's Guide – Magnetic
Tape.
NOTICE
Damage to the magnetic tape
Hard tools may cause damage to the magnetic surface
of the magnetic tape. Even damage that appears slight
(e.g. scratches, dents) can affect the function and
linearity.
► Do not use hard tools to install the magnetic tape!
► Replace damaged magnetic tapes!
Ideally, the system should include a groove or a stop edge
for the magnetic tape that clearly defines its lateral
position.
Magnetic tape attachment example:
1. Mark the reference edge of the magnetic tape on the
machine part.
2. Thoroughly remove any oil, grease, dust, etc. (use
acetone or similar) from the mounting surface of the
magnetic tape and allow to dry completely.
3. Align the magnetic tape corresponding to the print
(see Fig. 4-1 and Fig. 4-2 on page 11).
4. Remove the protective film on the rear end of the
magnetic tape, align and then lightly apply the
magnetic tape.
5. Remove another piece of protective film, align the
magnetic tape, apply lightly by hand and then repeat
this step until the entire magnetic tape has been
applied.
6. Make sure the alignment is correct and manually press
the magnetic tape by hand over its entire length.
7. Optional: Fasten the magnetic tape ends.
8. Optional: To protect the magnetic tape from
mechanical and chemical effects, affix the stainless
steel cover strip.
